Download the Japanese Emotions iPhone/iPad App here!
I need everyone who likes to use this site to help me out a little bit here. During the first week that this app is available I need as many downloads as possible and more importantly as many 5-star reviews as possible.
This helps the app get found easier on the app store so please, if you enjoy using the site download the app, leave a 5-star review and tell all your friends!About the App
This app features the entire database of Japanese emoticons available on this website. Simply tap on the emoticon you want and it’s copied. Then just paste it into whatever other app you want to use it. There’s a favourites menu so if you have certain emoticons that you really love to use you can save them so you’re not always digging through a giant list to find them. You can also create your own emoticons and even generate random ones, save them to your favourites menu and use them like the other emoticons. Here are some examples of awesome randomly generated emoticons that I made with the app:| ᕙ (❁^д ^*)っ | ((☆^⌓ ^☆)╭ | 「(#Φ益 Φo)∩ |

The Story and History Behind This App
I’ve been sort of planning and working towards making an app for over a year now. I finally got everything designed and planned out and hired a programmer in May and the app was finished in June. Then the Apple App Store Review Board refused to approve the app which was something I never expected. They said the app didn’t have any entertainment value and wasn’t useful. So I ended up fighting with the Review Board for about 3 weeks but they would not change their mind. A friend of mine suggested I add a create an emoticon feature so I designed that section, hired a programmer again and added that section to the app. That ended up taking another couple of weeks to get done. So the app was supposed to have launched back at the start of June but got pushed back to August because off the App Review Board. This is why it looks like I’ve been teasing a surprise now for a really long time. I was planning on launching the app a lot closer to when I first made that “something awesome is coming soon” blog post. But everything’s good now and you can download the app today.Download the Japanese Emotions iPhone/iPad App here!
And remember, we need as many downloads and 5-star reviews during this first week as possible to please tell your friends and also leave a 5-star review.
I hope you enjoy the app, I put a ton of work into it. ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆The All Emoticons Page is Back! Plus Some News
A huge number of you requested it and the All Emoticons page is back!
No, this isn’t the awesome surprise I hinted at earlier. That surprise is still coming. It’s been delayed due to forces beyond my control but when that surprise is announced it will be awesome so stay tuned. It’ll be soon.
In the mean time though the All Emoticons page is indeed back.
The reason why I had removed it is because it basically doubles the amount of time that it takes to update this site as I have to add each emoticon to two pages.
Adding more emoticons to the site is a bit time consuming. I’ve got a giant backlog of hundreds of emoticons to add to the site and with the current site I haven’t really figured out a good way to do it quickly.
There’s basically two ways to do it. Add the emoticons one at a time from my back log to their individual pages or sort them first.
If I go through my backlog list of emoticons it takes a while because I’ll add one to one category, then add the next one to a completely different page, then go to another different page for the third one, etc.
Or I could try sorting my backlog list first and then add a whole bunch to each page at a time.
Both methods take a decent amount of time and because I didn’t want to update the site in two places that’s why I removed the All Emoticons page.
But yeah, don’t think I’m complaining, I like this site and I’m quite proud of the work I’ve done and I enjoy working on it.
So now I’ve figured out a way to set up the All Emoticons page so that when I update the other pages this page updates automatically so that’ll make updating the site much faster and easier.
So thanks for visiting this site, thanks for the emoticons suggestions (keep them coming!), look forward to more updates and most importantly, look for a big awesome announcement hopefully coming in another week or two at the most.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the link to that page is in the upper left menu on the site.
Something Awesome is Coming Soon!
Some time over the next week or two I’ll be announcing something new and very awesome for this site!
I’m not going to go into too much details yet because I want to keep it a bit of a surprise but I’m almost done making something awesome that has taken a long time. It’s something a lot of you have requested too.
So watch for news over the next little while. I think you’ll be excited to see what’s coming. I know I am!

Japanese Emoticons is now on Twitter and Facebook
This site is now on Twitter and Facebook!
You can follow JapaneseEmoticons.net on twitter at the following link: https://twitter.com/JEmoticons. Would you believe that JapaneseEmoticons was like 2 characters too long for a twitter username?
If you prefer to follow this site on Facebook you can do so at the following link: http://www.facebook.com/jemoticons. I had to go with JEmoticons as a username here too since someone else had already claimed JapaneseEmoticons.
I’ll be posting news, emoticons and possibly some other random interesting stuff. You can also suggest emoticons to be added to the site through either Facebook and Twitter if you want too.
