These Japanese emoticons are characters from various shows, things, Internet memes, or whatever. They’re in different sections and they contain kaomoji from memes such as the Lenny face or “Raise Your Dongers!”. You’ll find other specific characters further down the page and various emoticons that I think are some kind of character but I’m not sure what they are. They’re very specialized looking faces that’s for sure.
The Lenny Face
The original Lenny Face ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) is often used on boards like 4chan as sort of a replacement for the Japanese word “desu” (to be). Over time there have been many other variations made of it. “Raise your dongers” was originally a catch phrase by League of Legends player Michael Santana. He likes to play as the LoL champion Heimerdinger who he has nicknamed “donger”. The actual phrase “raise your dongers” along with the original donger emoticon ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ﾉ came from a tweet by Michael Santana in June of 2013.
