All 10,000+ Of Our Kaomoji Japanese Emoticons in One Giant List

Japanese Emoticon CatsCats are probably my favourite animal and what better way to celebrate this then with a giant page of kaomoji cat emoticons?! Seriously, how cute are some of these kaomoji cats? Fun fact: the Japanese word for cat is “neko” and the sound they make in Japanese is “nya”. Feel free to add a little “nya” to any of these emoticons to make them extra Japanese.Cats are essentially regular Japanese emoticons with =’s added to their cheeks as whiskers. ^’s can also be used for ears and you can use ・ェ・ for a cat’s nose. Some of these cats get pretty elaborate and I’m highly impressed with some of them!

Cats with Anime Eyes

These cat emoticons look like they belong in an anime. Something about Φs for eyes makes me think of the Azumanga Diaoh cat. Can you see it? It adds so much character that these cats are truly memorable. A lot of these kitty emotes don’t even have whiskers, but their eyes and mouths let us know they are supposed to be cats. These eyes also add some humour.

Simple Cat Kaomojis

These are some standard cat kaomojis without anything too fancy added on. It is good to know how to make a simply cat so that you can practice making them for yourself. Eventually, you can start to add in some fancier characters, like words, tales, gestures, etc. to make your cat kaomoji unique to you. Even though these cats are simply, they are still so adorable and huggable! Kawaii!

Fancy Eyed Cats

These dongers are still relatively simple emoticons but they have fancier eyes and a wider assortment of eyes. The eyes of each one of these cats completely changes their expression, making them useful for almost any situation. Using two థ for the eyes are perfect for sad eyes, while ⓛ comes off as if the cat has eaten a bunch of catnip! Crazy!

Stylish Cats

These text faces are a little bit more special or stylized. I think so at least. Some of them have a very particular minimalist style that make them very unique. Some people say that cats are super zen. What better reflection of this than a simple face likeㅇㅅㅇ or ⋆ටᆼට⋆?

Fancy Cats

These Japanese emoticons are obviously cats, but their emotions are far more complicated than the other cats in this category. Want your kitty to be in love? To be dumbfounded? Sleepy? Nerdy? Gossipy? You can find all of these options below! Pick a cat emoticon based on the personal expression you are trying to make.

Cute Fluffy Kittens

These emotes are all cute fluffy kittens. Either that or they could be fat, I’m not sure. Either way they’re still pretty cute and I don’t think anyone is going to argue with that. Add in a heart character ( ෆ ) beside any cat emoticon if you really want to make someone go, “aww!”

Cats with Paws

These face marks all use ฅ to make little paws! It even looks like these cats are pressed up against a window and looking out, waiting for their owner to get home. Or maybe they are laying on their back and waiting for a good pet! Whatever reason for why these emotes have their cute little paws up, there is no doubt that they are looking for some love.

Cats Doing Things

These cats are all doing something. Some of them are serving their owner a drink, playing with yarn, waking up their owner, hiding under a kotatsu, or you know, all that other cat stuff. Who knows what they really get up to all day. They do always seem to be getting up to something though and most of the time it is trouble!

Giant Cats

These are giant cat emoticons that were too big to fit in the 3 column tables, so we grouped them all here, together. These emotes look amazing, but note that the do not always work. If you try to send one of these GIANT cats through something like a text or an instant messaging app, then they might be broken into two or more lines. They work best in e-mails and on websites.

Japanese Emoticon Characters and MemesThese Japanese emoticons are characters from various shows, things, Internet memes, or whatever. They’re in different sections and they contain kaomoji from memes such as the Lenny face or “Raise Your Dongers!”. You’ll find other specific characters further down the page and various emoticons that I think are some kind of character but I’m not sure what they are. They’re very specialized looking faces that’s for sure.

The Lenny Face

The original Lenny Face ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) is often used on boards like 4chan as sort of a replacement for the Japanese word “desu” (to be). Over time there have been many other variations made of it. You can learn more about the origins of this kaomoji on Know Your Meme. The Lenny Face has been adapted to have a whole variety of different emotions so that it can be used in virtually every situation.

ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ Raise Your Dongers ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

“Raise your dongers” was originally a catch phrase by League of Legends player Michael Santana. He likes to play as the LoL champion Heimerdinger who he has nicknamed “donger”. The actual phrase “raise your dongers” along with the original donger emoticon ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ came from a tweet by Michael Santana in June of 2013. Since then there have been many other emoticons made in this style with ༼ and ༽ for the sides of the face. You can also learn more about the origins of this kaomoji from Know Your Meme.

Pokemon

There are actually a bunch of Pokemon text faces and since I’m a huge fan of Pokemon, they get to have their own section. Naturally, Pikachu comes first and he even has two different text faces. Find other famous Pokemon, like the big ol’ snoring Snorlax (go ahead, add some zz’s!), or Muk, who’s mouth is wide open in that classic, “muuuuuuuuk” sound. These emoticons really go to show how creative you can get with creating your favourite characters.

Japanese Emoticon CloudsThis is a new category of Japanese emoticons that I’ve never encountered before. They look to me like clouds but I really have no idea what they’re supposed to be. I’m going to call them clouds anyways since they remind me of cute clouds with faces. You can pretty much turn any Japanese emoticon into a cloud if you use ꒰ and ꒱ for the sides of the face.A visitor named Layte recently pointed out that these kaomojis could actually be sheep which I can totally see.

Simple Clouds

I wasn’t really sure how to sort these cloud kaomojis so I split them up into simpler, less complex ones and more complex ones. As it only takes using ꒰ and ꒱ for the sides of the face, there is a lot of freedom for making the cloud appear any way you like. They can reflect any emotion, but honestly an angry cloud looks a little strange! Maybe add some lightening zaps if the cloud is angry! Otherwise, they come of as adorable little emotes that seem to nuzzle right into your heart.

Complex Clouds

These are more complex cloud text faces. They use a little bit more and fancier characters and some of them might not display correctly on every device. Give Safari a try for better odds of these emoticons displaying properly, especially if they are not showing up in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc. There are so many emoticons in this section, which goes to show that there really are no shortage of complex cloud emotes.

Confused Japanese EmoticonsThese kaomojis are confused about something. Why they’re confused we may never know. You might even say I’m confused about why they’re confused. What does that even mean? I think I need to go lay down for a bit because of all this confusion…For confused Japanese emoticons you can use ・ or ◎ for blank looking eyes. ゞ makes a perfect arm scratching a head to indicate thought. You can also add question marks to any of these to show even more confusion. You can also use щ or ლ as raised hands to make emoticons that look as if they’re shouting “Why!?”.

Head scratching

These kaomojis are scratching their head in confusion, which is a pretty classic gesture. They are trying to figure something out. There are a lot of great characters perfect for scratching arms, including ヾ, ゞ, フ , ଽ , and〈. These kaomojis usually have petty neutral expressions to get across their confusions, but you can also make them look happily confused or maybe a tad bit frustrated!

Head Scratching With a ∑

These emojis are also scratching their heads in confusion. They’re just using a Greek ∑ for a hand. Due to the nature of this character, if you use it for the scratching hand then you have to place it on the left side of the emoticon so that the hand is actually on the head. You will see this is true for every emote in this list.

Blank Look

Here are some dongers for those times that you’re confused and you just have a blank look on your face. You cannot offer an emotional response because you don’t even know how you can possibly respond to something so confusing. Pick between eyes like ◎,☉,● , and more. Blank looking mouths are usually very simple lines. You can also forgo a mouth altogether.<

Raised Arms

These are Japanese emoticons that have raised their arms in the air to indicate their confusion. Since they don’t know what is going on, the only reasonable thing left to do is raise their arms. Or is it a shrug? I’m confused.. I’m going to just let it happen…

Raised Hands

These text faces have raised their hands in the air with a щ or ლ like character because they’re confused. They might actually be questioning things. I’m not too sure, and neither are these emoticons. Use one of these emotes if you really have no idea what is going on. They are a terrific last resort.

Quizzical

These emotes have a quizzical look on their face with maybe a raised eyebrow or that special sort of quizzical eye. These are all renditions of the classic o_O face, but far fancier and more unique. If you don’t know what is going on and you have no idea what to say, pull out one of these emoticons to clearly express your confusion and lack of words.

General Confusion

Behold these other facemarks that were left over because they did not fit into the other sections. They are really just more general confusion. Nonetheless, there is still a large variety of confused faces. Who knew there could be so many confused emotes?

Complex

These kaomojis are more complicated than the other ones in this category. As a result, they might not display correctly in every browser. I’ve found that it’s best to view these ones using Safari. It is also important for the person on the receiving end to use Safair in order to see them displayed properly. Hopefully you can get them to work because the complex emoticons are always impressive.

Words

These Japanese emojis have words added beside the text face in order to further indicate their confusion. Actually, adding words is useful for furthering the conversation and actually asking a question. They ask things like “why?” “what?” and “what’s up?!” Try to avoid using plane English text wherever possible. Fancy letters make for a fancy emoticon!
